Default Ever Come Upon Something Unusual?

The hubs and I were camping by ourselves once (the wild ones were staying with their grandsuckers..I mean grandparents ) and we accidently came upon quite a large er...shall we say...POT farm. We didn't realize what we had come upon until we were almost upon it. So we turned around and left, quickly and quietly. I really didn't want to know what was going on and neither did hubs. I'm EXTREMELY glad we didn't meet the growers or farmers or whatever they want to be called. Have any of the rest of you ever encountered something like this and I really don't want to know where.

Hi...

What was the exact location of that farm?

You were wise to leave quickly and quietly. That sounds like something out of a movie and the couple was never heard from again. Finds like yours, we could do without. Right?

Did you plot your location and turn it in to the authorities?

One time our FD got a call to a house fire. we got there and the house was full of smoke. We tracked the fire to the basement, where a grow light had shorted out and
started a small fire.

We got it out and ventilated the place, and found a pretty decent sized growing operation. The cops took out over 200 pot plants, some pretty big. They found a trash bag full of leaves, and about 10 grams of hash.

It was the first fire I remember that we overhauled without airpacks...of course when we got back to the station, we had to order a bunch of pizzas... LOL ;-)

Not me. I wouldn't know a merrywanna plant from a daffodil. But just this summer, couple of hikers came on a big old plantation about 60 miles from here. They reported it and the police took out over $80,000,000 worth of the stuff. They figure this farm had been going for at least ten years based on the pvc pipe etc they were irrigating with.

Hmmmmmm. I'd say with that amount of production, they probably knew you were there. I don't think I'd go back that way again. But then I'm not Tommy Chong who is treating his cancer with cannabis.

I am pretty sure they probably knew you were there too. You don't invest that much time and money in that kind of an operation without having a security system in place. There were some stories last year about some hunters getting hurt because the "farmers" had booby trapped the perimeter of their operaton, which happened to be in the middle of the woods.

See, that's actually the dumb way to do it. Nothing calls attention to your operation quite like someone getting hurt by a man made trap. Half of the people who might wander into your place wouldn't know a pot plant for sure by sight. Why call extra attention to yourself by ensuring a rescue operation to come get somebody you can't be sure even noticed?
