I used to carry a shortened machete when I was in the jungle. Between that and my Swiss army knife and a larger sheath knife on my belt, I had everything covered.

I was born in Puerto Rico when my Dad was working on a graduate degree in tropical agriculture. We always used machetes as kids because they were easier and safer to handle than an axe. I still use them for yard work, and like the reach they provide as I get older.

Beautiful! I trained a little with butterfly knives but never really got proficient with them. I am looking at training with a Kerambit one of these days. Just a matter of getting one that's somewhat inexpensive and getting my instructor to find a time when we are both available. If I get to where I really like it I'll get a good one.
