| Leave the booze at home, please, or at least BE QUIET A recent conversation with my sister had us talking about a camping trip we'd gone on together, years ago now.... and how we'd wound up with "neighbours" that considered copious quantities of alcohol and loud music to be "roughing it".
Every single night after dark, the noise was something else. It only took us 3 nights before we decided to 'move on'.
We stopped by that same spot, on our way home from our trip... and cleaned up after the little b@st@rds. Beer cans are not biodegradable, dammit.
If you are going to drink when out in the bush, please remember that your personal safety is related to your ability to think clearly, and if that doesn't deter you, SHADDUPPA YOU FACE when plastered, please, I don't need to hear your 'fun'.

| Geordie, is it the booze you object to or the stupid it causes? I have no issue with drinking in camp; when drinking causes one to be loud and stupid on the other hand or the drink cause the stupid to come to my camp I have a big issue!

| I have no issue with drinking, but you need to be responsible and once your stupidity flows over into other campers, it becomes a pain in the @ss that is not necessary.

| Drinking doesn't cause stupidity. It amplifies stupidity.

| I wouldn't drink when camping, I drink in bars. I don't see the attraction in doing so when sleeping in a tent, and on a fairly hard floor.

| There's responsible drinking and irresponsible drinking. You seem to have had unfortunate experiences with the latter.
When my brother and I go camping, we sometimes bring a bottle of something. Not a fifth, but like a pint. Then, after dinner, we sit in front of the fire and have a little drink. We don't drink enough to get drunk, just a little buzz. And we clean up after ourselves when we're done.
People who go camping to have wild parties and then leave a huge mess piss me off. It's obnoxious and disrespectful, and it wrecks things for everyone. There's no excuse for that type of behaviour.

I think Geordie was expressing an opinion about those that tipple and get rowdy at the expense of the peace of others, in which case I'll back his complaint.
But don't tell me I can't tip a gin'n'tonic to keep the skeeters off!

| I don't have a problem with someone drinking in camp, but you are right, it amplifies stupidity. If we have a problem with anyone, one of us usually sneaks off after dark and alerts the rangers. That usually takes care of it.
