| We love to party and get hammered in camp. We usually bring fireworks and at the end of the night we throw the empty keg in the fire and wait for it to explode. Good times.

| I mostly do back country camping, due to annoying camp neighbors. Sometimes, drinking does not even have to be involved! One time, I had some loud camping neighbors, who decided to grill steaks at 3 am, while talking loudly! Who the crap, eats steaks, at 3 am?!

| This topic is as old as the hills. In a free society there will always be some obnoxious people. That is part of the price we pay for freedom. If you don't like these types of people don't camp near them. Feel free to move. Some people will respond to respectful pleas, but most won't. Rethink your trip planning if this problems happens too often.
"Blowing off steam" is one of the great attributes of outdoor recreation, but sometimes it infringes on the rights of others. My greatest successes with difficult people have occurred when I joined their party.
I agree that people are becoming more trashy and leave more mess than say the late 1970s and 1980s when there were public anti-litter campaigns.

| If people want to drink, I think it's fine. When they get loud and interfere with my sleeping, or when they do things children shouldn't be exposed to, that's going too far. There are plenty of unspoken rules in camping. We all know them. Those who don't aren't real campers.

We do pretty much the same, except we also shoot into live trees when drunk and leave camp with the fire sometimes still going.

| We always drink when camping, but we do try to keep the noise to a minimum. Some people just can't control themselves and that where the obnoxious qualities really show through.

| We usually have a cocktail before supper, always have wine with the meal and often have a nightcap before hitting the sack. We've never bothered anyone or had any complaints directed at us. Most other folks in the campground are likewise nice and quiet. If they are obnoxiously loud, I'm not shy about reporting them.

| I agree with someone earlier, who said some camp grounds are party places and some aren't, some are kid friendly and some are more for us old farts. There is a state camp ground in south Central Louisiana that in the spring a club of cajun campers hold crawfish boils and cajun music jams, any one can join in and its great fun. You back to nature snobs prolly don't think of that as camping and the music usually drowns out nature till after midnight, and it is lots of fun. When we want more primitive camping we go off the grid.

But that also doesn't mean that we shouldn't be mindful of others that are camping out to relax and would want to get some decent sleep during the night. They are, after all, entitled to their sleep just as much as others are entitled to have a bit of fun.

LMAO!!!
If you sign up for a Survival School and it's cancelled for bad weather, you didn't miss much. |
