I know they are rising up with trails but has anyone been? We were thinking maybe next summer taking a trip out to visit Paseo del Bosque and see what they have to offer. Just a normal bike trail would be fine for something relaxing, get a cute place to rent out and stay for a week or two.

You might try Trails dot com or local hikes dot com for hiking trails. Petroglyph National Monument is right outside town on the west and a ride up the tram to Sandia Peak is pleasant with hiking trails up there. Go visit the old rock structure north of the tram and learn its history. I'd tell you here but that would spoil it.

I have always loved NM and considered moving there about 10 years ago. While looking for a place to live I was struck by the amount of racial tension in that state- Indians, Mexicans, Spanish, white people from big cities with money, Mexican Heroin connection in Espanola, etc. Many people of Spanish decent are still pissed off that we did away with the Spanish land grant system. If you park at a trail head expect your car to be broken into.

A friend of ours lived there for about a decade when his kids were youngest and they actually got him into the outdoors world via their school trips. I am thinking its a great state and one that is not on our list, so why not? I am really starting to enjoy this retirement deal, more free time to do whatever we please except the options are endless sometimes.
