Amazing! Glad he made it out okay! Not sure why he waited 4 days though to climb out and make a splint. I would have tried that on day 1 when the cell phone died.

Well, it may have been painful enough that he hoped waiting could provide more a pleasant alternative. Or he hoped that something would present it's self as splint material before he attempted a climb out.

Glad he got out. My prayers go out for him that he makes a full recovery and that he doesn't loose that leg.

This is the perfect time to be stranded outdoors.

Summer/Fall is much better then Winter/Spring. Less chance of flash floods for one thing, and death by exposure is much less likely.

I enjoy watching survival story shows on the TV. Maybe this hiker could tell his story on the Discovery channel. I feel inspired by the survival stories and I try to learn from their experiences. I'm glad he is okay, he is looking well considering the ordeal he has been through.

Many of the survival stories we have watched could make me flinch and that takes quite a lot! I doubt this guy waited just because he wanted to be stuck longer, you could never imagine what goes through someones mind at a time like that.

Hi...

As has been stressed many times...your cell phone canot always be relied upon to function at all times. This is something that the victim will probably never forget. When you learn the hard way, you usually stay learned...!!

Hoping he keeps on improving and can indulge in many more hikes.
