Well, if it's a mink or a really good fur that lasts forever, then yes, I'd pay more for it. I hope the anti-fur people don't pull out their guns. For something to go camping in, then no, although I'd pay up to a hundred or just over.

I think that picture is further proof that you get what you pay for.

Heh, might want to notice that those boots cost a lot more than the jacket.

Northface rain shell on clearance at Dick's for $35. Fleece for $20.

Now I have $545 left over to spend on food.

I haven't been able to justify purchases for camping outwear, I use what I have used for years from llbean and an old London Fog rain jacket. They have served me well in the woods sitting in stands, fishing year round on rivers and the ocean, and hiking. Not very fashionable these days, but still functional.

I did purchase some wool socks and some wicking baselayers since cotton isn't recommended when backpacking. I'll get lightweight rain pants someday when I find them on sale!

Best jacket purchase I have ever made was the Monte-bell Ultra light Down Jacket. Hated to drop 170 bucks on a jacket but was well worth it. Keeps me worm on it's own down to the 20's and weight less than some t-shirts I have. Also love the fact that it packs down to the size of a coke can. 800 fill power down some amazing stuff.
