Default Halloween Hikes

One of the nearby nature preserves is having a Halloween hike for kids this weekend. I'd like to take them, since I know the hike isn't too arduous and I think they'd have fun, but the weather isn't cooperating.

Are there any Halloween hikes in your area?

I don't think so and I don't pay attention to those events. As a matter of fact I don't like group hikes because I'm going outside to get away from the world.

Group hikes are good at places like the nature preserves. Especially for the kids, but for most of the rest of us too. I can appreciate wanting to hike alone and in most cases I prefer alone or maybe one or two others. The thing about organized group hikes in places like the nature preserve is that it is usually a learning experience for the particepants, especially the kids. Not sure where you are from or what the weather is like, so use your best judgement. If you can't take them to the Halloween hike maybe the nature preserve does other hikes you can take them to during the year. We are members of the local zoo and nature preserve. I'm not sure what they are doing for halloween but they usually have short hikes and special events throughout the year.

I like group hikes - with at least some people I know. It's good to include a stranger or two though, because next trip they are "people I know". Going very soon with one friend and one stranger.

I haven't thought of that, you are right. As a part of school activities we did some picnics/hikes near the town. It can be a great learning experience for the kids.

That is the way to trick kids that are hooked on video games to go outside. It is important to influence on them when they are still young.

I don't know of any Halloween hikes, but there is a place that does moonlight walks every time there is a full moon. We also have a couple of places doing Ghost Walks, but that is just around town.
