Relief From Humidity

The heat index has been so high these last few weeks that we have a hard time going to the lake, let alone hiking or backpacking. How do you beat the heat when it's this hot? I'm talking a heat index above 105 degrees F!

A past coworker of mine keeps telling me to come down to the islands where he hide off at when hes not here or visiting his mother in TX. I wish I had the time and funds to get away, a nice tropical place would be much better than this heat.

I do all my errands in the early morning or late evening. I drink water constantly and avoid the hottest hours. When it gets a little cooler I'll head to the pool here. It's no use going when you're dry almost as soon as you get out.

Down in Cajun country when it hits 110 plus humidity, we take to the water in a canoe and accidentally fall out five or six times. Now that I live in North Carolina, the heat isn't as bad but I still can't stay in the boat.

The Heat Index above 105??
We have been above 100+ for over a month now, thank Gawd for air conditioning and night shift!!

That might be the only time night shift is a good one to work. I can not head out in the evenings for errands or the skeeters will get me. I hope this weather changes soon I can not wait for fall!

Sorry for the lamentations folks. We had a snowball fight yesterday and the day before our bottles of water left out were slushed up.

We are pretty lucky, things have cooled down quite a bit here. I have to say I really appreciate it too. I didn't think I could take anymore of that.
