Whats the difference between Hiking and Nature Walk? Just wondering.... I think its the same difference like camping.... what some consider camping others don't consider as "real" camping. So is it the same for Hiking? I like to go on what I call "Nature Walks"....... not to far from the starting point and nothing that would require any uphill or downhill struggle. So is that still hiking?

I do not consider that hiking. I consider hiking to be off trail, moderately difficult and makes you work for it, a laxi-daisy walk in the woods in my opinion no more of a hike than owning a tent makes you a camper.

I think you can hike by walking in the woods not too far from your house. It's all hiking when you get outside and get in the outdoors. Some people just take hiking to the extreme and go for hours. I consider it backpacking if you take a backpack and stay out for hours.

I agree. I think a nature walk is an educational walk. Or that is always how I have thought about it. Almost every nature walk I have been on involved someone teaching someone else about nature.

I do not really see a difference between hiking and nature walks. I find that I always learn something when I am out in nature. There is to much to see to know it all.

This is such a great question but after reading everyones posts I think it might be one of those things that is really up to the perception of the person. Also I do not think you can die hard hikers to normal people.
