| Winter shoes? I have one pair of hiking boots, and I usually wear them year round. A friend of mine says he has his summer shoes and winter boots. What kind of shoes or boots do you wear in the summer?

| Old leather hiking boots in the winter with a thick pair of socks and sock liners.
In the summer, an old pair of Merrell's (back when they were made in America and still lasted more than 9 months)
Now I'm ditching the shoes in the warmer months. Going Tom Sawyer style like I did when I was a kid.

| Little too much winter here for just boots and extra socks. When I was still out with the livestock during the winter, all hours of the day and night, Sorrell's were my boot of choice. Too heavy for fun stuff but essential to be outside in -20 to -30 temps.

| Montrail Torre GTX for 3 seasons. Just ordered some Scarpa Omega boots for winter to replace my old Invernos. If past eperiance holds true I'll probably send them back at least once before I get the fit right :-(

| I never change. I do wear thick wool socks in the wintertime however. My wife has knit me quite a few pair of good thick wool socks that are super warm.

| I would love wool socks in the winters and I know this coming year will be worse than last but I am allergic. As for shoes, this weekend I need to head out and restock my few pair since they are past their prime.

| I use the same hiking boots for all four seasons. LL Bean Cresta Hikers in all leather. In winter my feet stay warm as long as I'm moving. All bets are off if I'm sitting still.
My wife on the other hand has different boots for winter summer and fall/spring. For winter she uses insulated winter hiking boots made by Keen. In spring/fall she wears Lowa Renegades in all leather. For the summer she has a pair of Vasque leather/fabric hiking boots.

| I used to wear Vasque boots in the Summer. Recently I bought a pair of Guide Gear Summer weight boots. No insulation but waterproof. Winter hunting around here requires Thinsulate.
