Default Back to school, Back to packing

My grand kids go back to school in about 4 weeks. I am pretty glad too. I have been helping with them more this summer. I've loved getting to spend time with them and give them experiences in nature, but I am looking forward to getting back to adult backpacking. Will kids going back to school affect the amount of backpacking and hiking you do?

This has been a rare year for me. Short hiking season and all the rugrats tied up in summer baseball, football camps or work. Only hike with a grandkid is next week, granddaughter and I and others are going for a week. Just get them trained to where they can carry some of my stuff and off they go to a baseball game.

I got to hike a ton this year. The kids were pretty busy and I didn't have to run them around. Now that school starts, sports start and homework too. That means a lot less backpacking for me.

I will be doing a lot more in the fall. Not because of kids or school but waiting for it to cool down a bit. Don't enjoy it as much when the heat index is at triple digits.

Me too. I'm not a big Summer fan. It's okay for bike riding and berry picking but the woods is more fun in the Fall.
