Default Backpack everywhere.

I'm not just talking about in the woods here. I carry my back pack almost everywhere I go with a number of items in it. I guess you could call it my purse, but I can get away with it and not get beat up because it's more manly. I'll wear a lot of sports clothes that don't have pockets so it allows me to carry all the essentials in it and not worry. I've seen others do it too since it's just a big convenience.

I think it's a good idea. Why can't you carry the backpack everywhere? I carry a purse and a bag most times. You never know what you will need and you want to be prepared.

A lot of places (stores) won't let you carry a backpack around inside.

I generally don't need that much stuff.

(I don't get purses either).

I generally carry a backpacker wherever I go. Usually have a raincoat, water bottle, snacks and my Sony Walkman. It also is nice to store random things I steal after I become hammered.

backpacks can be dangerous. Son-in-law's guard unit was doing security at the Salt Lake winter Olympics. Young feller came in with a backpack (forbidden) and when a guard started toward him, he made the mistake of trying to run back out, right into the arms of another guard who slammed him into the floor. No bombs in backpack but a broken nose and hefty legal fines on the young feller.

I have a good friend who takes his backpack every where he goes. It seems kind of funny at first, until you realize how useful it can be.

Kevin Durant, the NBA star who plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder, is well known as a backpacker wearer. He is often teased about it and people ask him what he has in his backpack.

I'll bring my smaller daypack when I'm traveling and out for a day of sightseeing or geocaching. I wear it skiing too. I also wore it when I was commuting to NYC and was on crutches.

But for general day to day being out and about, I don't bring enough with me to warrant carrying a backpack. If it's business oriented I have my briefcase. Otherwise all I ever with me are my car keys, wallet, iPod and cell phone. No need for a backpack for that.
