Gray Wolves?

Hypothetical question: Say you are into the third day of a five day hike. You have your knife with you but you left your rifle at home. You round a point and there before you are a large pack of gray wolves. What should you do first?

Yell loudly and bluff charge at them, even if only a couple of steps. Then pray they scatter.

It is a scary thought. The one thing that I DO know is don't run. They will chase anything that runs, it's a canine trait to chase and they have it as well. I usually at least take a pistol with me when I walk far, but some don't.

Don't know if this is the right answer, but I would have probably stoped, slowly backed around the point, had a snack/rest and hoped they have moved on once done. If not then tried to scare them off.

I have to admit it probably would scare the tar out of me. I guess, what grandpa said, maybe? Depends on their reaction I suppose. I usually always have pepper spray as well as a firearm. I would hope it wouldn't come to killing, but if I had to, I would.

I wouldn't run. First, I would use my whistle like crazy, while holding a knife in my hand just in case. The other hand is for picking up rocks and throwing at them.

The first thing I would need to do is change my shorts. Never thought about this one, but I'll certainly ponder it now.

It is an interesting concept and I doubt that I will be ready for it even after immense preparation. I think there was a female photographer who encountered them. If I find the story I will share it.

I am honestly not sure but I would be hoping for the best. Is this question because you watched that recent movie with Liam Neeson? We watched that a few weeks back and it was good. I think out in conditions like that we would have to be both be carrying a little more than a walking stick that's for sure.
