Deluxe is on a distinguished road
Default Southern California First Timer

Hi everyone,
I have done car camping my whole life and have always enjoyed it. I have been to Alaska twice for fly fishing and fished on the east coast where I have family. Every time I do it I learn something new and enjoy it even more. I want to start backpacking and incorporate my trips with fly fishing. My reason for this post is that I want to be able to leave Friday after work to head for a trail with my backpacking gear and fishing equipment. I would like to know if anyone can give me some ideas of where in Southern California, Ventura county to be more specific, I can leave on a Friday get home Sunday night and be able to fish and camp in some remote area nearby where I don't have to drive for half of my trip. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jason

Plenty of websites to give you trails in your area Deluxe. Try local hikes.com or trails.com. But stick around here and tell us how your trips went too.

Jason,

Get some good maps and head for the blank spaces.

Either he got lost or one of them California bears got him. He never came back. That was his last post.

Not much to tell Ppine. I put a nephew on a high point overlooking a large canyon of mountain maple. Then I still hunted down through the canyon. The buck got nervous because (as I figured) the nephew couldn't sit still and kept wandering around up there.
The buck decided to sneak off and go up canyon to get away from my nephew, but ran into me. We had an excellent gene pool then. We got several about like him, although he was my best at the time. Grandma got a 32" 6x6 that same year.
