Default Another Accident

I just heard on the scanner that there has been another accident on a local hiking trail that leads to a large rock cliff. It never fails, when the local college comes back into session, some of the kids think they have to go "party" on the trail. He just fell 50 ft over the rock. He is alive though, which is unusual. I sure hope he isn't badly hurt.

That's scary. Heights are not anything to mess with. I hope the young man is going to be OK. It's a shame that people don't respect the area more than that. You never want to be unaware when you are around areas like that.

Something like that just happened here. Some ladies were hiking and stopped at the cliffs edge. One had a drink that slipped from her hand and when she went to catch it she fell and slid off the cliff. It took them 3 hours to get her out. She had serious injuries but is going to be alright.

Up Alaska this year, there was a guy who ventured too far out on a glacier, the ice gave way and he fell 90 feet where he got caught on an ice shelf. It was a nine hour operation to rescue him. From what people who were there told me, there was a really large drop off below him. It was amazing that he got caught the way he did. He was in a standing position with one arm raised over his head. This happened up near Eureka this past spring.
