North Carolina caves

I've never been spelunking, but it sounds like a fun thing to do. I'd probably be too afraid to try anything advanced. Are there spelunking areas in the mountains of North Carolina for a beginner? I can't much climbing, but I'd love to watch others do it.

I don't know for sure - and I bet someone here does - but I would check with whatever entity is managing the property for caves in your area because many (all?) caves are closed to humans because of the spread of a disease (white nose syndrome) that is killing a huge number of bats. There might be some caves on private land you could use though.
