Default Taking kids with you?

Do any of you take your kids with you? What age are they? My nephew has shown an interest in caving and I think it’s time he goes. Of course we would stick to a pretty safe cavern and it would have to be on a guided tour. I just think he will be amazed with the whole experience. He is very active and I know he would do well.

I would think as long as you are sticking to the 'safe' places and the guided tours it should be ok. You can find out this way just how interested he is in it all.

Yes, I agree by taking them along you could find out if they are really interested or not. Also the guided tour thing does sound a bit safer to do to start with!

Of course he would go on a "kid-friendly" guided tour. There are a lot of those in the area. Once he got better at climbing and moving around the cave we could do more.

Never really thought about taking kids. I think it depends on the maturity of the kid and how active and self reliant they are. I dont have kids and neither do my friends so thats a tuff one.

Alice came to a fork in the road," Which road do I take"? she asked.
"Where do you want to go"? responded the cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter".

I don't think it would hurt. I would be careful to take them somewhere safe though. I'm not into caving but if you are, it's best to teach kids to be as safe as they can be when they are young.

I'd like to make sure first that they can understand and follow instructions strictly and that they also understand the safety rules and the risks. Kids are curious and they don't mind exploring on their own... Accidents can happen.
