Default "Boat camping"?

Have you ever done any "boat camping"? There is a lake nearby that has islands you can camp on and the only way to get there is by boat. Sounds like a blast to me.

I have not but that sounds like a ton of fun. I plan to kayak camp in the Florida Everglades this fall or next spring.

I had a Blackwatch sailboat when I lived on the gulf coast. We would go out to the flats and camp out on the boat weekends. Just float around, swim and watch the ships come down the channel at night away from it all.
Habachi grill, fine wine and a super hot wife made for a great evening!

Not too many places you can do that here in WV, but my hiking/camping/canoeing buddy and I have a couple places in mind for a canoe camping trip, probably next summer. Michigan has some great places, especially in the UP, but also some in the LP.

Hi...

Beautiful boat...!! The one you owned...or a reasonable facsimile?

Hi...

I sorta boat camped. Used my homebuilt 16' outboard/rowboat (licensed for eight people, but never had that many in it) on the Yukon and Klondike Rivers. Would simply pull ashore for the evening.

It was on the Yukon that I met the last of the old time Yukon River riverboat pilots. He and his wife were anchored in their homebuilt houseboat. What an interesting couple...!!

Boat camping is one of the reasons river trips are so popular. Had a Coumbia 23 at Lake Tahoe for many years. My uncle had a Coronado 35, and my Dad had a Ben Wa 43 on Lake Union in Seattle. We used to go out and cruise for a week at a time in San Juan Is.
Grew up with boats on Chesapeake Bay where we made several week long trips.

Canoe camping is a lot of fun on big lakes and in the north country like the Boundary Waters. Its like backpacking with real food and adult beverages, and with few portages, furniture.

Boat camping works fine with power boats too. Just pack up and go.

I did a lot of back country canoe camping. It was a lot of fun. But be prepared and be careful. You don't want to lose it out there.

We have Islands out where we fish that people camp on a lot during the summer. We've done it a time or two ourselves. It is a lot of fun but a lot of trouble loading up the boat with everything you need.
