Default Checking Water Levels

I use to have a site bookmarked, that told water levels, and othe information, for various creeks. My bookmark accidentally got deleted, and I can not remember the site. What site do you use to tell water levels of creeks you want to canoe or kayak? I find this information invaluable, for creeks that are further away from my house.

I never knew such a thing was out there. I like that though. Hopefully someone knows what site you are talking about. I typically do not pay much attention to levels except for tides.

If it helps anyone, I live in near Alabama, and the site told of Alabama water levels. I am kicking myself for not writing the name of the site down! I think I am going to go to a canoe shop this weekend, and I will ask the guy who works there. If I find out, I will come back here and update everyone.

I usually don't trek very far,
when all around me black bears are.

Never check the water depth with both feet...!!

Hark...!! Do I hear a leak in my boat? Quick, put a pan under it.

Here is the USGS site: USGS WaterWatch -- Streamflow conditions The link sends you to the WV page, but it covers the entire country. I'm not sure if it has any lake information, but it covers all the major streams and rivers.

I have several such sites that I research before I choose a place to go fishing. We had late snow and a very rainy spring, so this info was critical relative to spring run off. Saves lots of gas and disappointment to check things out ahead of time.
