Default Converting a powerboat?

My friend has a powerboat with no motor. It is a decent size boat and he would sell it to me cheap. Do you think that I could convert it in to a sail boat with some work?

Yes.....No.
You will need to install a centerboard or in a crosswind you would just flip over or slide sideways instead of getting propulsion.
The sail and centerboard work against each other to give propulsion.
Yes it "could" be done though it is probably not worth it unless you are just needing an experimental project.

The answer is yes, but you need to clarify what you consider "some work"...

If it's a row boat with a vee bottom, then it might not be too difficult. You might also consider using larboards, which go on the side, instead of trying to retrofit a centerboard. You might want to look at Dynamite Payson's webpage, as he offers plans for boats like this.
