Default Have You Ever Made A Raft?

When I was a teen, a couple of my friends and I wanted to see if we could make a Tom Sawyer type raft of logs tied together with vines. We made it and set sail in the Ohio River. It lasted until we got about 2 miles down the river and then just fell apart. Good thing we could all swim.

I used to make them now and again as a kid so I could fish further from shore. They rarely fell apart but it doesn't take much to hold a 65lb kid and a tackle box.

Weren't those fun! When I first heard of it I thought to my self..."cool, I'll stay dry"...figure the odds on that one. The raft was for the equipment and you swam along and pushed it in front of you.

Yes, we find driftwood around the lakes and show the scouts lashings to make rafts

I never have, but it sure sounds like a blast. It would be a fun thing for the kids to work on sometime when we're out camping and they're looking for something to do.
