Default What are the essentials for a day of boating on the lake?

I am going boating tomorrow and want to know what are some items I should pack? Any suggestions are helpful

A chance of clothes are always a good thing to bring. Sometimes you just don't want to stay in wet clothes, or you may take a dip in the water and not mean too.

Sunscreen. I like bullfrog brand. You will burn quickly on the water.

Some large towels.

I like Aqua Shoes. Keeps my feet protected from shells and other nasties in the water.

Lots of water. Can never get enough water when you are on the boat.

Boating in my case always requires waterproof equipment, no matter what is included. I often tend to dip in willingly or there are occasional non-willing dips so waterproof clothes and equipment is a must.

Sunscreen, definitely sunscreen. I always make sure I've got a snack and something to drink. A radio or book for entertainment. You may want to take insect repellent also to make sure you don't get eaten alive by mosquitoes. Remember water=mosquitoes.

A cooler full of ice and beer. I prefer cans because they take up less space when empty. And, of course, life vests in case someone has too much beer and falls out.

Life vests, of course, but before following the other advice, you might want to see what the laws in the area say about this. Many places I've gone boating, drinking on the boat is a big no-no.

Water, snacks, music, a towel, and most of all, sunscreen is what I'd be bringing along.

Alcohol and boating do not mix well, contrary to what others may say. Almost all of the tragedies you hear about while boating are caused by excessive alcohol. Leave the beer to after the boating.
