I definitely prefer a canoe. We like to take it slow and easy and look and explore small rivers and lakes. At one time though we had a 28 foot steel hull cabin cruiser. That was fun then but I don't think I'd want one that size now with the cost of gas.

After many years of working on boats I have had seat time in any thing you could imagine. A hydroplane that weighed 285 lbs with me in it and a 50 Mercury called the 70mph sheet of plywood, 47 footer with 3 800HP Mercruisers that would run 90, a 14 foot bassboat with a 200HP that ran 88, a 20 foot bassboat that ran 92 with a 250HP. A 280 HP race boat that hit 118 mph and sounded like a p!ssed off hornet on PCP.
But the fun stuff for me is a 13ish foot boat with a 25-60HP motor you can go into small creeks and explore. I have a 14 foot Grumman dating back to 1963 with a 60HP Mercury I make 200-450 mile river runs in and a boat that would be best described as 2 surfboards tied together with a 25 HP I river and lake camp in. Add 6 gallons of gas and 2 dry bags of gear and we are ready to go!

If you sign up for a Survival School and it's cancelled for bad weather, you didn't miss much.

When it's just my husband and I we take a canoe. But when we bring our kids we use a small fishing boat with a trolling motor.

I like a kayak. It's great for exploring and it handles well. And the only gas it takes is a few granola bars and some sweat! I suppose if I was going to travel far from shore I'd want to go in a proper boat but a kayak is great for exploring around the shoreline or going to nearby islands.

We have a paddle boat and a Lund. I personally prefer the boat with a motor. I like speed. We enjoy taking our kids around the lake tubing and skiing. We also enjoy fishing a lot too. We like just taking the boat around the lake to look at the loons, the eagle's nest and get some fresh air. I have taken my neighbor's kayak around but that isn't something that I would enjoy doing on a daily basis just something that I would do once in a while.

I like them all. For a small remote lake a canoe is great or for rivers. For fast water a big cataraft. A power boat is better suited for large rough lakes and reservoirs. For the ocean at least a 60 footer.

I like canoes more. I have fished a few times from a boat, but it feels better in canoe. This might be because i usually fish on small forest lakes, canoes seem to fit there better.

I'm like ppine. I like a canoe but I prefer a 130 foot yacht with a large galley, a dining room, multiple bedrooms, sun deck, swimming pool, sauna, and a fishing deck.
