| I get this weird feeling of claustrophobia when I'm up on a high building, like the Empire State Building. I don't get it if I'm on most mountains, but I can get this feeling when I've been in the mountains too long. I call it claustrophobia, but perhaps it's what agoraphobia feels like. I know I just have to get back home.

| I am not claustrphobic, but would never consider spelunking. After 25 years in Nevada, I am allergic to flatlands, continued bad weather, and thick, deep forests with lots of underbrush.
A zipped sleeping bag is very comforting to me especially when sleeping on the ground in wide open country.

It doesn't make sense because I have never been caught in anything but it is there nonetheless. Is anyone else claustrophobic? | I get claustrophobic, but definitely not to that extent. I truly think, at least for me, that alot of it is in my head. I can start psyching myself out when I start thinking about it too much. I noticed the same thing when I'm on an airplane. I went through a stretch where I would get really hot, nervous, and anxious on the plane, but I have since found ways to distract myself during the flight (listening to music, watching movies, reading, etc) and it is no longer an issue. I'm not sure if that helps.

| Hi...
Isn't it interesting how we all have different views on the world? Friends of mine in South Dakota (for example) wouldn't feel 'right' unless all they could see was the horizon all around them.
Here in the Catskills, I'm more at home...because I see forested hills and mountains all around me...!! Not to say that I don't like other areas though, because I really do like them, too.

Not that I don't appreciate the flat swamps, plains or deserts, but this is my home country.

| I am claustrophobic to a point, it seems different surroundings can sometimes trigger it but not always. I am also acrophobiac so stick me in an elevator at the top of a high glass building and expect the same results as you would a cat in the same situation with water being dumped all over it. My husband still razzes me for both but I pay him back when I drive the car (he is a control freak when it comes to not being the driver).

| I have done a few tours in caves and caverns, and what I learned is that I really dislike the closed-in feeling of cave. That's the only situation in which I feel claustrophobic.

| I can't stand small places. Caves, elevators, crowded rooms, etc.
I still crawl into small, dark holes to see where they go. I just can't help myself.
