Default Have you gone sledding yet?

It's one of my favorite activities in the winter. Sure you look more sophisticated while skiing, but it's just not the same as lying on your stomach, going downhill and praying that you won't hit the next tree in your way.
I usually have to go a little further from the hillsides in my general vicinity otherwise the parents out with their kids throw me funny looks, but at least this way I don't have to worry about running somebody over and I get to take in the local scenery in winter.

Hi...

Nope. Never did much sledding. Snow was usually too shallow or too deep. So had to use Mil-surplus skis, or toboggan.

Except for that one day on a homemade bob sled. We used it on a steep hill on a local road. Fortunately, I wasn't on it when it crashed into a bridge...!! Wasn't used much after that. Was bad enough just dodging the cars.

We use truck inner tubes for sledding. they work great, especially when you get a trail iced up real good. Just watch out for the barb wire fences at the bottom of the hill. Living out in the boonies, an old car hood, a hunk of rope and a snow machine or 4 wheel drive is tops on an icy county road. Oops, shouldn't have brought that up. This day and age they'd arrest us all for child abuse etc etc etc.

We don't get enough snow around here to do much sledding. There is one big hill over near the junior high where everyone in town ends up if we ever have a snow big enough for sledding. Most people don't have sleds, so they use anything they can slide on. My favorite was a big old upside-down Coca Cola sign many years ago. It was in the shape of a bottle cap.

Haven't been this season. No snow.

Not this season and will not be disappointed if we don't get snow here in southern Indiana.

I haven't been on a sled for many decades, but have fond memories of using them. I had a really old loose sled that would out turn anything in the neighborhood. As we got older and bolder we would sit on them and steer with our feet and a rope. Then we would stand up, and later built ramps out of old car hoods. We used one old WWII Army ski with the bindings taken off.

By the age of ten, my Dad would tie some ropes to the rear bumper of his Ford and tow us around the streets at night when it was quiet.

Todays high is predicted at 73, so I kinda doubt I will be sledding anytime soon. Tomorrow will be 78. So much for a white Christmas. We do get down to a "bone chilling" (by Florida standards) 59 on sunday for a high.

Sledding? You need snow for that and we have yet to really get any accumulation. We have had some really odd weather this winter. Last week it was 50 and raining!
