| Hurt There are many dangers in the woods and I am not just talking animals. Fallen trees, down branches, rocks and even holes that can't be seen are out there. Have you ever been seriously hurt when you were trekking through the woods? |

| The only time I've ever really gotten hurt in the outdoors, happened ten or twelve years ago and was my own fault. I stepped up onto a good sized log for a look around and when I stepped back down I landed on a softball sized rock hidden under the leaves and twisted my right ankle. At first, I thought I broke it, but after laying there on the ground for a while and thinking about it I realised that there was no snap when it happened. Long story short, I had a long, painful hike back out to my car. I went to the ER and learned that I tore the ligaments in my ankle. One careless step and I have an ankle that gives me problems to this day. That's where the old saying never step on anything that you can step over and never step over anything that you can walk around comes from. |
