I don't ever take any wildflowers along the path unless I'm at home in my own woods. I have moved wildflowers from the woods and transplanted them in my wildflower beds. I bet it made the hike awkward.

I've only picked a flower (prior to having a good camera) when I couldn't identify it. That would have been awkward to see someone pull up a whole plant to "transplant" it. I don't think I could have kept my yap shut. I would have said something.

Also, in the National Parks, as long as you take nothing from the park, you are allowed to pick it.

In 2008 in Glacier, we hiked a memorial hike for bearmagnet (pj saeli), and we asked the ranger if we could pick a bouquet of wild flowers, and send it down the Belly River on a mini raft the kids made. He said absolutely as long as we did not take the flowers out of the park. We also were given permission to spread his ashes there as well. It was quite the honor to be part of that hike. I sure miss him!

We have to plow through all that millfoil when we go to our summer place each year. Every time we take the boats out from the house, we have to clean all those "snake weeds" out of the motors before we can head out into open waters.

Oh, yes... Do transplant some nice wild weeds in your backyard so that I have to spend that much more time weeding my garden. People are so inconsider about things.

Two of the HOA's I lived and currently live in, encourage use of native plants in our yards instead of plants that are not native to our area. I prefer my yard to have native varieties instead of those that can spread and become a nuisance, or a noxious weed.

That's the thing, some of the prettiest wildflowers are noxious weeds outside of certain habitats, but good luck convincing some folks of that. More over some folks fail to realize that others have allergies and that lovely little flower of theirs may well be reeking havoc on someone else.
