Default Sterile Gauze Pads?

I got a pretty good deal on some gauze pads to replenish my first aid kits. These are sterile but I found out that they come in 2packs. I will usually use one and the other ones will go back in my kit which of course compromises sterility. I know that this is not a big issue but I wanted to hear your opinions anyway. Would you opt for 2packs if the price was ridiculously low and quality good?

Well, sterile pads don't go bad so why not. You should see my medicine cabinet. If it's a good deal then I say go for two packs. You could always share.

Hi...

If the price was that good, why not? Also, there may be times that using two of them at a time would be called for.

They aren't going to go bad, and you never know when you might need them. I always stock-up on stuff like that if I find a good deal. Dollar Tree is an excellent place to stock-up on medical supplies.

I always stock up on any kind of first aid supplies if I see a really good deal. You just never know when you might need it and we have quite a few first aid kits.

Sure why not. if you are worried about sterility yuo could put the unused pad in a sanwich sized ziplock baggie.

Well, if the package is opened the sterility is compromised but I doubt that enough harmful bacteria will settle on these. Just put them in a zip lock bag and you should be OK.

Thanks guys for the advice. I see that it's not a big deal and since it was a good price I didn't pass on these. I'll use the zip lock bag for the other one just like you said.

Not sure that the sterility is such a big deal anyway depending on what you are using it for. If using it make a pressure dressing to stop blood flow should be fine I would think. No if you were packing a wound that would be a different story. heck if you ever take a First Aid Course of a Wilderness First Aid course they discuss using shirt, and any available material to make a pressure dressing. I would just suggest using common sense in the application of the now not sterile gauze but it still does have many uses.

How many sterile pads do you expect to go through? You'll be lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you look at it) to ever need one. Having two, just in case should be fine, since they don't weigh much.
