I hear you there. I don't have any experience with the sea and would probably do something really, really stupid off the bat to get myself killed. I would have to stay near shore.

How did I get out there? Plane crash? Boat sink? A little too long on the floaty at the beach and got caught in a current???? Just trying to figure my situation!

You were on a cruise ship goofing off in one of the life boats. You hit the wrong button and splash you're in the middle of the ocean and all the tools you have are the ones stored on the life boats. The cruise ship doesn't notice and your all on your own. OK, so what supplies would you normally find in a situation like that? (Does that help?)

Is this a large wooden life boat or one of those small rubber ones? Just kidding! Well....I'm much better off than I was with that piece of drift wood. Will I be getting that back? It may come in handy! First off I'd inventory my survival kit on the boat. Then formulate a plan. Main goal is water to drink, so rationing water is vital and obtaining more is my primary objective. Second would be food, so that's the next plan. after that I think signalling for help. No telling how long I'm going to be here so conserving energy is important also. Hopefully this is one of those life boats with a cover over it. Staying out of the direct sun is a big help. Not much more to do other than try to stay out of the elements as much as possible and wait it out.

First goal is probably shade, actually. If you can't get out of the sun you are going to last half as long while trying to find potable water.
