5 items only So if you were stranded in the wilderness and you could only have 5 items with you or on you what would they be? Mine are a flint, multi-tool, .22 rifle, small metal pot (to boil water/cook), and a sleeping bag.

Oh, wow great question. Mine are a flint, a knife, pocket fishing kit, a fold up campers frying pan, and a sleeping bag. You can always build a shelter and maybe use the fishing gear to set a snare.

tarp, sleeping bag, multi-tool, pot, lighter or GPS, satellite phone, topo map of the area, solar charger, dirtbike (I'll be out in an hour) as for my little brother, his list would be: Nintendo DS, extra batteries, iPhone, headphones, cleaner for his contacts

My five are pretty close to Newanderthals. The only difference Would be that I'd take an axe over the multi tool and a ferrocerium rod in place of the lighter. Thats funny, other than the contact cleaner, your brother and my girlfriends son would have the same list.

Leatherman (multi tool) - but that axe does sound nice too Flint Netting (to fish with) Gun (not sure which type) Container (to keep water in) Now if I were stranded in the wilderness with say an awesome water spring near by that would just be awesome.

It depends on the area. An axe aint gona do you any good in the desert, and I wouldnt be concerned about warmth in my local mountains. I would be confident with A method to cut. Multi Tool Large Knife or Axe A way to start fire. Bic Lighter and a tea ligfht candle, or other fire starting method. A way to boil water/cook Pot (not that kind of pot) Insulation. Warm jacket emergency blanket or sleeping bag. A way to adhere things. Duct tape or acessory cord Pot. Yes that kind.

My choice is as follows: 1) Hard steel knife that can double for axe, shovel, hammer or anything else. 2) Firestarter 3) Compass 4) Flashlight with at least 100 hours of runtime 5) Metal water canteen that can also double as cooking pot

The metal water canteen is a good one Gondo I hadn't thought of that before. We have been trying to work on our survival skills some so I thought I'd see what others would take along!
