Alcohol I don't take any liquor with me when camping, and the thought of having it along on a hike is kind of nuts. But I have a friend who frequently has a drink of an evening. Do you consider this risky?

Not at all. Having a few drinks while sitting around the campfire after the kids have gone to bed can be quite relaxing. Always drink responsibly though!

Of course I don't think it's risky. The camp grounds that we go to actually sell alcohol in their little stores. I do not see anything wrong with taking a couple of beers with you camping, it's supposed to be relaxing for everyone.

I don't drink when we go camping, but I don't really drink that much, period. My husband though makes sure to pack enough beer to at least have a couple (or so) each evening. It's a vacation, right?

I agree with the responses here; some responsible drinking once everyone has settled in for the night isn't very dangerous. I have heard some horror stories involving irresponsible drinking, though, and that's where trouble sets in.

I don't drink personally for reasons of my own, but if someone wants a couple of drinks, I don't have a problem with it. As long as they don't get dead dog drunk and tear up the place and ruin everyone's good time, I don't have a problem with it.

Moderator | Here's a reply to this topic I posted in another thread: "I really enjoy beer. Not the yellow fizzy stuff, but small-batch brew IPA, usually. I think enjoying a beer (I will usually get a 22oz bottle) of the highest quality such that its organic ingredients bring you closer to nature can enhance your outdoor experience. So, yes, I do drink when I camp. If you want to try my method, might I suggest a Moylan's Hopsickle Imperial IPA. It's made at a small brew pub in northern California, but they distribute nationwide. If you really look hard enough, you should be able to find a place that sells them tucked in and around this great country." Do you drink when you camp? Be sure to remember to use the search function to see if the topic has been covered in another thread. Thanks. |
