Thanks for your help.

Lots of trails in every state. Laurel Highlands trail in western Pa. is one of the nicest I've ever backpacked. Others in Pa. include The Black Forest Trail, Loyalsock Trail, Thunderswamp Trail System, and The Pinchot Trail, Plus a whole bunch more. You also have the AT from Georgia to Maine. The few I've mentioned are my favorites and all can be backpacked in their entirety or in parts plus they can all provide day hiking opportunities.

Thanks so much. I've already begun to put together this book. Most of the spots I had before your post were from the West. It's good to know of the spots in other parts of the US. I'm so glad to know of these great places, I can't wait to visit them myself. Thanks again to all of you.

It can be for any reason: scenic beauty, seclusion, peacefulness, recreation opportunities, anything. The only requirement is that it has to be in America. What do you think?

I have many books in my library published by folks who walked the trails for many years themselves and were intimately acquainted with little known facts, folks and lore. Their blood, sweat and tears have been my inspiration especially if they wandered wilderness areas before it was a popular trend. Jack, in my opinion you have been fortunate to get the good folks here to assist you in your search for little known areas. IMHO, I would not spend a dime for publications that were not based on the authors own research.

Since YOU asked what I think...troll elsewhere for your information.

JMHO, Judy

Hi Judy, I understand completely. I take no offense at all. And I am very aware how fortunate I am. Thanks so much for your input. It is appreciated greatly.

Also, I fully admit that I'm a newbie to this. But I'm not just here to get information for a book. I also want to learn everything I can from you guys. One day I'd like to visit every one of the places you guys talk about. And I'd like to put into practice every tip and bit of advice that's been shared.

Since I made my first post here, I've read every post that's been made on this forum. I've read about Colton's first buck, the new colt in the family, I love the tips section. I really am liking this forum and the people in it.

I've been around some other forums and I'm even a long time moderator at one. But this is the first time I've been at a forum like this and I really like it.

I'm not sure what your definition of trolling is but I'm sorry if you think that I'm doing anything wrong. I'd really like to get to know the regulars here.

Thanks a lot Judy. Right now I'm just researching different places. I'm truly amazed at the places you guys have shared with me. It really motivates me to see them. I'd love to get pictures of all of them myself.

Gosh Jack, I'm feeling guilty of being mean spirited. As a moderator of another forum you must know what folks trolling do? Backpacker.com has a very wide base across this nation and might be another good resource for your research. The regional areas for backpacking have more members that post more frequently than here, however many of them drop by OBC from time to time and/or contribute regularly to both sites along with others.

OBC seems to be unique as one of our members noted: Where else can you find backpackers posting along with ATV folks, equestrians, mountain bikers and RVers all with the common goal of maximizing enjoyment of the outdoors AND sharing their special trip reports and extraordinary locations?

No problem Judy

The only term we use at my other forum for unwanted people is spammers. Usually they will want to post links to their sites. According to Wikipedia, trolling has varied meanings but generally is someone who's intent is to harass people at forums, blogs, chat rooms, etc.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check out backpacker.com. I've looked around at other outdoors forums. While they have good information, outdoorbasecamp seemed to have the best community. Since I wanted to get involved with one, I wanted to join the one that seemed to have the best people.
