Default camping book

I have kept one since I was a kid and its a good way to be able to look back (besides photos) about it trip. Anyone else carry one? Mine isn't large, like a pocket size one but it works out well for quick notes.

I journal while camping.

I kept a journal on my 29 day drive...while smelling the roses along the way...of 5000 miles of driving from NY to AK. Alas, it is nowhere to be found. I miss it.

If you would like to read someone else's journals...from the late 1800s to early 1900s...Google ""Nesmuk". He was an early explorer of the Adirondak Mountains, mostly by canoe. He traveled light...most of his canoes weighed little more than ten pounds...!!

Never throw a hand grenade uphill.

If you're interested in journals, read the journals of the Lewis and Clark expedition. There is a lot of tediuous stuff in there, but there is a lot of true adventure from men venturing into an area that few non-Indians had ever been in.

You can download them for free from the Gutenberg Project.

When the US Cavalry was chasing a clan of Shoshones through the Central Idaho Wilderness back in the 1870's, (sheepeater war) they found a cave. Inside the cave was written "R Jones 1635." I sure would like to read HIS journal.

I used to have one back in college, but it got lost during one of our camping trips. Haven't really gotten back to it. Probably next year.

Since we're on the topic...do you guys make your own from scratch or buy one?
