And, I'm pretty much restricted to UTE camping...unless a miracle happens, and my PT turns things around. Probably not likely, though.

So, it's just me now...although I do enjoy the company of others when we meet when afield.
Being alone is sometimes good for the soul, but You should get a dog because a wellm trained mutt will keepm you from feeling totally alone. At least that has been my experience

Which is good, because my kids are grown now (20 and 21) and have jobs and we may not get to camp together again for a long time with all of our difference schedules, so I may be going by myself. Which, after all these years as a single mom, actually sounds really nice and relaxing.
Last I heard, backpacker stats were 48 % women. There's a big beautiful world just a ways off that highway. And you are right in the middle of some of the best.

Spending time with children is more important than spending money on them. (Don't know who said it but I like it)

I agree with you Hikenhunter. I love camping with my wife and kids. But there are times when I would just take a weekend off and just go camping or do a bit of hiking on my own. It's a great stress reliever for me and really helps me get my mind off of things.

We usually go with a group of friends. We all like to do the same things so it makes camping more fun and easy on everyone since we can all manage to get along and not get on each others nerves throughout the weekend.
