Default Camping grounds or somewhere more secluded?

What do you prefer? I usually try staying away from camping grounds since they are noisy, messy and generally the exact thing that I want to get away from when camping, what about you guys?

I take my backpack and hit the trails, or paddle my kayaks and canoes into "paddle only" sites.

Not Sure About other states but in Michigan if the camp grounds are full , like most of the time, you can camp any where in state forest , I pack in my own water and make sure my camp is clean , and be careful of any fires I have , because I do all my cooking over wood fires . And never had any problems. You can find some real nice camp sites in northern michigan

I prefer secluded, but my friends tend to go more for campgrounds.

When camping we generally go up a dirt road near the creek or river until we hit a place that is secluded enough for our liking. You'd be surprised how many beautiful spots you can find this way.

I almost always hike in at least 3 to 5 miles from any trail head to avoid crowds and noise.

I like to go to camp grounds! I like the interaction with the other campers and the activities that campgrounds have for the kids. I do like to camp alone too, but I prefer to be at a campground.
