Default Camping with other families and food

Do you camp with other families? How do you split up the food or do you all bring your own? We are going to split up meals - there are 4 of us families going so we thought we would all take a meal. So I'm taking the 2nd night dinner and then some breakfast stuff. My other friend is taking the 1st nights dinner and some snack stuff.

Do you think this will work?

I think that will work just fine. We camp with others all the time. A lot of time we go together grocery shopping and buy all the food together and split the bill - other times we have split meals.

Distributing loads is always a good idea. This way you will save energy rather than all of you making food in your own stove. At least you get to do enjoy while others are cooking and vice versa.

My kids have their own families. We designate each family a day for all kitchen stuff. Usually, Dad cooks breakfast and Mom does the dutch oven supper. And their kids do the cleanup or whatever needs doing. It works great. The girls hunt all year to make the special new recipe for the group. Thats why grandpa is so fat.

I've had too many bad experiences with folks who contribute little or nothing and expect everything. My trips are each family managing their own resources. Sharing is common but entirely optional.

I don't like camping with other families, just with people who feel the same about camping as me. I don't like happy yappers ruining my experience when I'm out.

I love to camp with other families, it's fun and we get along very well. I don't mind camping on my own too but I prefer to go with others. It worked out wonderful. I'm glad we didn't have any slackers who did not bring food.

Take turns cooking for the whole group

Those people are known as dishwashers.

I don't have a family. But if I did, I would teach them how to use a slim jim. That way on family camping trips they could steal other families food and offer it as our own.
