| I've tent camped in the rain many, many times. As long as you have a good tent (sealed or taped seams, taut full-length rain fly completely covering all zippers and doors, bathtub floor), pitched in a spot that doesn't flood or pool water, it is very enjoyable. Two years ago, we camped on Kauai in the rain forest for four days. I don't think the rain stopped the entire time we were there, and there was never a drop of water in the tent. In Yellowstone one spring, we were in a very windy rainstorm, which became a very cold and windy ice storm when the temps fell. The trees were falling like matchsticks, but we were comfortable and dry in our tent. I was a little concerned about falling trees, but not a bit concerned about the wind/rain/ice/snow causing my tent to fail. If you try to use a walmart tent in the rain, you'll probably have a soggy experience. I love to lay in a tent, hearing the storm on just the other side of the nylon wall, cozy and dry. I don't always love crawling out in the morning, but again, the right rain gear can make even that OK. Once I've faced actually leaving the cozy tent, I don't mind a nice hike in the rain as long as I have the right clothing and boots.
