Texas was very well settled long before air conditioning, just like my great grandpappy did very well here in Idaho long before central heating. We do tend to get conditioned to conditioning but with aclimitization, we can survive.

Guns; my right to own one is what protects your right to tell me I can't.

Don't judge me because I sin differently than you

twinsmommy;

I honestly would rather camp than stay at a hotel. Not only for the prices, but I get to use my own stuff when I am camping. I know that my things have been thoroughly cleaned, because I did it myself. I am a little bit of a germ freak, so even when we do stay in hotels, I always bring my own pillows and blankets. And those comforters on the beds...they go off the bed. I don't even use them.

Hi...

You have some excellent points there. Hotels/motels can be some of the filthiest places imaginable. And, as you stated, the comforter/bed cover is the WORST offender.

One potentially germ-laden experience I had a few years ago was at a hotel at one of Vegas's casinos. There were mouse droppings in the bathroom...!!

I was able, however, to get some perks re: that experience.

NOTE:

"Pathfinder", who is now posting on this forum, is NOT Pathfinder1, which is me...!!

Staying in hotels is much more expensive than camping. Hotel's rates are way too high for a person like me with "normal" budget.

I have to agree this is a great way to save money, but also reconnect with nature. My wife and I stopped to use the bathroom in a campground in the Smokies and she was surprised at how quiet it was compared to Gatlinburg. Ever since then she has wanted to go camping, I think I created a monster!

I would choose camping in a tent, in the wild, over staying in a 5 star hotel with luxury food and a huge swimming pool. Nothing beats camping in the wild, but that's just my preference, everybody is different.

I have gotten upgrades at hotels too because of dirty rooms, but it so much of a hassle. I would rather just set up my own stuff and be done with it. Besides, there is nothing better than falling asleep to the sound of nature.
