Default Do you prefer camping alone or with other people?

I usually prefer to be with a few close friends, but I have been known to take 3-4 days trips by myself. The only problem with camping alone is I tend to move around a lot and mostly of the beaten paths, this means that if something goes wrong I'm on my own.

I do both. I solo several times a year and also do 2 or 3 week long trips with groups. For the solo trips, my SPOT tracker gives me the ability to change the planned itinerary I leave with the family. There is nothing like 3 or 4 days of pure solitude to get the head back on straight, although since retiring I don't feel the need for these trips as much as I used to.

Hi...

Have enjoyed doing both...but usually alone.

On the rare occassions that I've used a campground, the neighbors were usually quite nice, though.

PS...

Some of those people turned out to be some of my best friends, too...!!

I'm new & this is my 1st post. Liked the ? So thought I'd answer.. I've done a fair amount of both, but at this point I prefer going solo on the long trips and with 1-2 friends on shorter ones.
Now can anyone direct me to where I might find reports on kayaking the Yellowstone River?

Hate to hijack the thread but welcome to OBC forums ibgary. Where are you located? And I'm sure there are stretches of the Yellowstone to kayak, but this is not one of them; Where would you want to start and finish?

When I was young and fiesty I used to go solo a lot. Now I am easier to get along with and enjoy going with friends. I still do a lot day hikes behind the house with just one dog along as a companion.

I will always prefer going alone to going with someone that is a complainer or really lazy and needy. Going with a group of field -tested friends is pure joy.

I don't like the idea of camping or hiking alone. I would prefer to have at least one other person with me, like my husband. I might even organize a girls-only trip with a couple of girlfriends, but I don't think I'd ever go alone. I wouldn't feel safe.
