Default Electricity

What does everyone use electricity for when you go camping. If all the electric spots are filled are you very disappointed if you have to camp in a non electric site?

We wouldn't really care so much about having electric hookups but DH has sleep apnea and requires him to use a machine to sleep with. We do use a deep cycle battery for the machine when we are someplace with no hookups but we can't stay longer then 2 nights because we'd have no way to recharge the battery. Some of the best places like on the beach and in the mountains are non-hookup sites... makes it really hard to go on longer trips to those places.

Other then that I'd say its just the lights, radio and kids portable DVD player that uses the electricity........... oh and my margarita blender (hehehe) when we have electric. Water hook up is nice to have too. Sewer doesn't matter to us at all.

I don't usually go anywhere that has hook ups. I'm a bare bones kind of camper. I go to get away from all the modern conveniences and test my mettle as well.

electricity is what I'm getting away from. If I wanted a TV, AC, internet, etc. I'd stay at home.

No electricity where I camp, but I do have an inverter in the Jeep for charging cell phones and GPS receiver batteries if needed. I rarely use it though.

We have an inverter we take with us in case of emergencies, but I agree, I go camping to get away from the everyday and the hustle and bustle of life.

I will join your camping anytime with this principle. This is also my reason why I go camping, to get rid of the comforts in life and be with nature.

I could go without all the modern conveniences but the boyfriend can not. He needs his ipod, computer and cell phone. We actually had a non-electric site last time we went and I thought he would go nuts but he was remarkably ok.

I am slowly teaching my little fella to be able to play with nature rather than being reliant on the tv and such to keep him entertained, not easy with a 3 yr old
