Familes: more or less?

Well, we are trying to get our kids outdoors as much as we can while they are young so it's "normal" for them as they get older. We want to camp and hopefully will in the next few weeks (with borrowed gear), but we haven't been so far because we have nothing. No tent, no sleeping bags, no stove etc.. I know you don't have to buy the most expensive stuff, but I do want it to last.
