Feral Cats

Has anyone ever encountered feral domestic cats on your hikes or camping trips. We had a bunch to get into our food stores on one trip this summer and had to call the trip short because we were too far out to come back in to get supplies and go back. They are tricky little devils. They cost us two more days of camping. Anyone ever encounter them?

Around here feral cats don't last too long and I can't think of a time when I have seen them in the wilderness. Too many predators. I do see the odd one in my back yard though. We have forest at the back of the yard and there is usually 1 or 2 feral cats making the rounds.

There seems to be a new pair every second year, so I think the coyotes are most likely getting them.
