I came across this picture the other day:

Have you ever tried to do something like this? Does it actually work? It looks like it would be fun to try but I'm not sure how useful it is.

It is also known as a Swedish candle. They are a good way to have a nice campfire without using a lot of wood.

Wow, that is amazing! I have never seen this before. I think it's great for a novel effect, but looks like a lot of work and like it could be potentially dangerous. Cooking over a fire in a traditional manner seems easier.

For my 2 cents, it looks silly and I aint agonna do it. The wood burns the pot falls. No way to control the heat. Just another bad gimic. Give me a camp fire a cookin grate and a shovel and there aint nothin I can't cook. just shovel coals under the grate or back to the camp fire and you can regulate cooking better than ya home stove. The thing bad about stuff like this is it leads newbies down silly paths.

I have never seen that before. It looks like an interesting way to have a fire in a small space. I have to wonder, however, how do you keep the pan from falling if the wood burns down and you're not there to catch it?
