A good view of the stars

That is one reason why I like to camp- all that clear sky dotted with stars. When I was little, my dad taught me all sorts of different constellations and where to find them.

When I get kids of my own, I plan to take them out camping and teach them their first constellations as well. It's like a tradition, and they would learn more about heavenly bodies outside at night than in some textbook.

I grew up with a good view of the stars. I had a buddy in college that had never seen a clear nights sky until I took him out camping to enjoy it. Sad that some people have never seen the amazing night sky.

Where we live we get a pretty good view at night. Last summer we took my brother's kids to a really rural area, much farther out than where we live, and they were amazed at how many more stars they could see. Months later they are still talking about it!
