Default Have You Been To A Retreat?

We have had an opportunity to join a group who are going to have a wilderness retreat and learn a few more skills to add to what we have. This would include how to field dress a deer and several ways to "hunt" which do not involve guns. It's a private group but I'm seriously thinking about going. Have you ever been to something like this?

Iraq is as close as I ever got to a "retreat"!

Uhhh, I think I was raised in one of those, if learning to chop the head of a live chicken, dressing a deer, shoeing a horse, and going up to the spring to gather watercress is what you do.

Humor aside, we are thinking of going to one of those when the class structure is medicinal wild plants. There is one of those not far away.

Come out to my ranch for a week or two and you'll see all that stuff.

Those type of retreats are wonderful for folks who didn't have the advantage of growing up like ole country boys like me and Grandpa's. I think tis great way for city folks to learn about the great outdoors.

I haven't been but it sounds like something I would like to do. I'll have to watch and see if I can find one that works for me. I would be interested in one for wild food and medicinal plants. I know about plantain but that's about it.

Have a look at one of these, except they are for the northern Rocky area.

Let's all make plans to head to Dinosaur's in the early spring and learn some true skills. I do think a retreat would be fun and a great learning experience. Any time you can hang out with friends, get away from the grind and be outdoors is a good day.
