Default Heater in the tent

My son asked me the other day if we could sleep outside in a tent. I told him it was too chilly at night and we would get real cold (been frosting at night). He was like, dad we can just put our heater in the tent, like we do in the camper. Oh my! I have some things to teach him before he goes off on his own! Thankfully he is still pretty young! We ended up pitching the tent on the enclosed back porch (it’s like a sunroom), it worked for him!

Wow, that is pretty funny! Kids are cute aren’t they. We have used a fan before in our tent back years ago, but I wouldn’t dream of using a heater in there. You could melt the whole tent! At least he is observant that you are using something to heat the camper with! Got to love kids.

Actually never discredit the power of imagination there are heaters for tents. I have seen some at my local Dicks Sporting Goods. However never had the need for one as I do backpack in the winter and have been out in single digits temps at night and remained toasty in my sleeping bag. If you want to share with you son how he had a great idea here is a link to the product.

For nasty cold weather (far into the negative numbers) I'll use a small sheep hearder stove to heat the tent....

Kni-Co Packer Sheepherder Camp Stove-Outfitters Supply

However, my tent is a snow walker and designed for these stoves. I would never use one in a nylon fabric tent
