I purchased an LED Lenser T7 for work and I take it in the woods too. It's a 200 lumen light with an effective range of 689 feet with new batteries. It was a little pricey ($70 USD) but well worth it. Coast is the manufacturer. Below is a link to their site. They make a variety of products.

I use a "Lightwave". It uses D cells (2), has ten LED's, is totally waterproof, rubberized for a sure grip, and bright enough to blind you up close. I've had it for ten years, used it extensively and have yet to change the batteries.
