If I were making money backpacking, I'd call myself a professional. Granted, I have made money by just talking about backpacking, but I still wouldn't call myself a pro.

But I go to enjoy myself and everything around me. I'm pretty enthusiastic about anything having to do with the outdoors. It's one of my favorite places to be.

I'm very serious about camping. I went to the gym and acquired steroids from some guy named Guido to help me camp better.

Actually, I'm really a 350 lb woman. I just sit in front of my PC and eat chips and drink diet coke all day.

But that Hiker Joe guy's kinda cute! He's even got the bag over his head already so I don't scare him.

I'd hate to be a pro. I might not enjoy it as much as I do. However, I do go a bit on the nuts side in regards to the terrain I enjoy hiking in and the weather conditions I prefer. I guess that is about as close to professional as I am currently. That said, I do have a wilderness company that is supposedly being formed that has offered to pay me to take people on off-trail adventures.

But what if you grow up doing (working a job) exactly what you LOVE to do? I look at it like having fun every time I go to work, and not necessarily like it's a job.

I am enthusiast. I love being outdoors but I am so busy in my life. There are so many things going on. I use my time outdoors to recharge for my very busy city life.

Camping is seriously fun and a great way to get out and see places you might not ordinarily think about going to.

I consider it a lifestyle. I've been doing it all of my life and never wanted to do anything else (ok...maybe the 17 years I spent doing Drum and Bugle Corps also), but my first love has always been the outdoors. It's why I stay in shape all year long and plan my vacations to do outdoor things.

I backpack, paddle, build my own kayaks, canoe camp, hunt, fish, river run, dayhike, car camp, target shoot and everything in between.

As far as I can tell, I'll never stop.

Just an enthusiast. Earlier this year it was great because we had lot's of rain so the creeks were full of water. Makes for much better camping when there is water.

Same here Jacob. We don't get to go out nearly as much now that we have small kids, but when they get older I hope we can go often.
