Default Keeping snakes away

How do you keep snakes away from your camping tent? I was told that putting salt or ash from your campfire around your tent will do the trick. Have you ever tried it?

I have never tried this but then again I have never been anywhere where I would worry about snakes getting in my tent either. I would be interested to know if this works though just for future reference.

Interesting. I have never heard about that either. It makes sense though. I guess snakes are afraid of salt and ash which can damage their smooth and sensitive skin.

I live in an area with few snakes and no dangerous ones. That's how I keep them away. (:

Fire generally keeps away wild animals of any kind, every creature knows deep down that fire plus them, equals kebab so they try to keep away as much as possible.

I always leave the fire lit and it seems to do a good job of keeping em all away. Apart from the one time I woke up with the biggest spider ever crawling up my leg XD
